Congratulations to our newest additions to the judeging ranks. Jim Lyons, Sandra Sebastian, Jade Dickens, and Steven Soulen are now USAPL State Refrees. Thank you guys for volunteering your time and giving back to the organization.

If you are intreseted in becoming a state refree please let me know. We give the state refrees test the night before every USAPL Texas meet.

To qualify you must meet the minimum requirements.

1. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
2. Must be a current member of USAPL.
3. Must have the approval of the State Chair to take the test
4. Must have been actively involved for a minimum of one year in the sport of Powerlifting in any of the following categories: athlete, coach/trainer, scoring/announcing, table worker, or meet director.

The test is open book ( I will provide the book) and is given the night before. I start the test around 4:00-4:30. Please allow several hours to take the test. I will give a Drug Testing Presentation before the test, about 30 minutes. The practical is the next day during the meet, you will sit either with myself or another National level judge and call 34 squats, 34 bench presses, and 33 deadlifts. For this reason there must be enough people entered in the meet to get in the appropriate number of calls. Call and let me know if you would be intrested.

Judging is a great way to give back to the sport.

All,
Got a question to ask you. As you may remember,12 years ago I produced a video for the USAPL to use as a supplement to their application to the IOC for Olympic Acceptance. As it turns out, the WORLD GAMES was the result. Recently, I have been ask to compile a new video, which can be used in the new ARNOLD FILM FESTIVAL-2011.
Tentative plans are to re-configure the POWERLIFTING 2000 video to present day status. OR…..perhaps we will start from scratch and build a new piece. Awaiting Larry Maile’s return from P.R. and discussions will continue .
Spent a good research day over on the U. of Texas campus, with Dr Terry Todd & Jan over at the new STARK CENTER for the study of physical culture and strength sport history. I encourage each of you to take a look at the site, <www.starkcenter.org> , it’s a real top notch research center for those of us who have been bitten by the iron bug.
You guys, along with so many others, have my highest respect. Why? Cause you did it right.(overnight success, right? It only took 10+years!) What I am asking, as I’m in the very early stages, is that you guys keep your eyes, ears, etc. open for footage about yourselves. Particularly with regard to The WORLD GAMES, ARNOLD SF, etc. Also, footage from WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Or contacts for these materials. If we go the route of a new video piece, I want you guys to be a part of it. I’m hoping our combined efforts will produce something special.
Talk soon.
Montreal, June 23, 2010 Dear Colleagues, The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has launched CoachTrue, a computer-based anti-doping learning tool for coaches. This new resource, available at no cost to stakeholders, covers a wide range of anti-doping activities and topics in order to cater to the various learning styles and demanding schedules of coaches. CoachTrue contains separate platforms for coaches of elite-level athletes and coaches of young or recreational-level athletes. An evolution of the Coach’s Tool Kit, which assists stakeholders in the facilitation of a face-to-face workshop for coaches, CoachTrue is intended to assist anti-doping organizations, coaching associations and universities in providing anti-doping education to coaches.
