The results for the Longhorn Open are posted in the Results section. 139 lifters! It was a long day to say the least, but I want to thank everyone for hanging in there until the very end. All of the referees who came in to help officiate the meet deserve special consideration because without them the contest is just another day at the gym. Special thanks go to the Longhorn Powerlifting Club members - past and present - who helped set up, take down, clean up, referee, spot & load, announce, run the concession booth, and keep all the various scorekeepers we had during the day on task, I couldn't do it without your help. And last, but not least, I want to thank Johnny Graham and the Phantom Warriors PL Club for letting us use their equipment. I hope to have the numerous state records set at the meet updated over the weekend.

News about the Longhorn Open: We have surpassed the 130 lifter limit for the meet! Therefore, we can accept no more entries, unfortunately, unless lifters contact me to say they aren't coming. This is due to facility and time concerns.

Hello all strong people! The incredible happened this last August - I actually graduated with my Ph.D. Yippee!! The dissertation was alot of work, but I enjoyed the topic: "Building Strength: Alan Calvert, the Milo Bar-bell Company, and the Modernization of American Weight Training." You might say it was right down my alley (or in my weight room!) I hope to turn it into a book in the next year or so, but the dissertation should become available on the UMI Dissertations and Thesis Database fairly soon, I think. Oh well...back to business. I have uploaded Curt St. Romain's entry form for his Toys for Tots meet in December - check it out and help him support a great charity. Entries were finally mailed out this week for my Longhorn Open, but the entry form has been available online for a few weeks now. Those of you reading this don't need the snail mail version, but at this point in time I don't have any way to know who already had the form so we used the labels we received from the national office to mail to everyone. We are always looking for State and National Referees to help out at the meet so send me an e-mail if you want to update your referee's book by helping out. If I find the time in the next few weeks I'll try to upload the entries I've received thus far for the Longhorn Open. So far I have 36 entry forms with an e-mail from a high school announcing their intentions of bringing 20 young lifters!! Way to keep the association young and involved. Get your entries in ASAP. Until later. Stay Strong! Kim

Hello everyone! Sorry this website has not been kept up-to-date recently. I have been having webmaster difficulties ever since Chris moved to California. However, I believe I have conquered the basic mechanics of keeping it up myself. The records have finally been updated!! I have also uploaded the results to the 2005 Longhorn Open and am waiting on the results for the 2006 Texas State Meet. The entry form for the Summer Powerfest can also be found in the Up-Coming Events page (I have been busy!) Let me know if I have missed anything, or if something is not working quite right. I can't guarantee immediate results since I hope to finish my Ph.D. in Sport History this August (I have alot of work to do to make this happen, but it looks promising at the moment!) I'll do the best I can. Speaking of which, I have to get back at it! Stay Strong! Kim
