USA Powerlifting Texas

Here’s to NEW Beginnings!

There are so many things I want to talk about I don’t where to start first.
I would like to Thank everyone that has helped make this year a great year for USAPL TEXAS, so much has happened this year and I know this coming year will be even more exciting with more records to fall and new venues to conquer.

This year is very special to me because my co-meet director, training partner, and love of my life, finally made it offical and after 10 amazing years together we finally got married! 12/21/12  The event was streamed live and 90 people tuned in to watch.  It was amazing to see so many friends and family there to celebrate with us.  We had so much fun!

Tony and Christy
I would like to apologize for falling behind in the records updating department.  I would also like to apologize for not doing a better job at posting meet wrap up reports.  This year I have set forth some new goals and finding more volunteers to help with the media and reporting is one of them.

So many people Volunteered their time this year we welcomed several new state referees and a couple of new National refs.  Thank you so much for taking the time to take the test and sit in the chair and making this sport better.

I would also like to thank ALL of the Spotter, Loaders this year we could not have a powerlifting meet if you did not spend hours and hours of your time loading weights, following every lifter on every rep, and then breaking down the equipment at the end of a very long day. You do this all for some pizza and a free T-shirt hopefully 🙂 we thank you very much.

So many great meets this year.  We hit record numbers at some and had a blast at others.  The logistics of putting on a meet for over 100 people is a little over whelming but we did it 3 times this year!  We hosted 12 meets this year across the state, with 4 of those being Hosted by the Zunker’s!  In 2013 we are on track to host just as many if not more meets.  We are always looking for more venues and more meet directors.  With so many seasoned meet directors in the state if you would like to try and host a meet let us know you will have plenty of help and guidance.

This year marked the inaugural Oklahoma State Meet! and we were fortunate to help be apart of that.  Jake Carney is the new State Chair of OK and I look forward to many years of rivalry competitions between our states and lifters.  How about a battle on the boarder meet maybe????

I am updating the records this WEEKEND I promise!!!!!! I under estimated how time consuming a wedding planning was and with christmas and family it just got away from me I will publish another post about that soon!

Finally I would like to thank the lifters, your hard work and dedication to this drug free sport is what makes the USAPL and the USAPL TEXAS such a great environment to work together for the good of sportsmanship, friendship, and powerlifting.  Have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Holiday and most of all train smart, live strong, and love well.
